I Shall Return

Short and sweet tonight as my stepdaughter, Emily, has her Grade 8 farewell tonight.

Many spots have been discussed this pre-season, but one I feel that no one is talking about is returner. I know we have Jason Armstead, but will they use him as a full-time guy? Same goes for DJ Flick. Both are experienced but both will/should be seeing full time duty in the receiving corps, so if they are not has anyone stood out yet to fill the role? I don’t know if this is a position coach Austin is worried about as I’m sure he and coach Smith have many options. It is an important spot as the rules have changed back to the way they were prior to 2006. I will be very interested to see how it plays out tomorrow night.

Thursday Thoughts

- I stated on one of the message boards that I thought the cat in the final episode of the Sopranos was Christopher reincarnated. Today I thought, wait a minute maybe it was Pussy. Discuss if you like.

- I lift over 4,000 lbs a day, I am getting to old for this :- )

- Don’t play golf with Gene Makowski for money! He’s good.

- “It’s a Long Way to the Top if You Wanna Rock and Roll” is, to the best of my knowledge, the only rock song with a bagpipe solo in it. Much to my surprise it sounds pretty damn good. Not a big bagpipe fan.

- I had a great Father’s Day; thank you to my wonderful sons.

- The greens at Deer Valley are in great shape, or at least they look good as you drive by in a big black water delivery truck.

- My goodness, we really do live in a beautiful province. I get to see a very nice part of it every second Thursday as I drive through the Qu’Appelle Valley.

- This weekend is the Southey Mopar Meet. See you Saturday afternoon.

- Izzy Magoo’s serves one big ass burger; not Icehouse big, but big. Soho serves a very good Bison burger.

- Life is better with the love of a dog.

- I hate the Edmonton Eskimoes

- Damn, we play a lot of western teams early this year.

- Friday night is going to be a blast.

- The Riders have had what seems to be yet another banner year as far as the Canadian draft goes.

- What’s Nealon up to these days I wonder.

- Has anyone reading this ever eaten a Daved Benefield taco?

- Eddie Freeman is a BIG dude.

- Kitwana Jones will lead the league in special teams tackles this year.

- Ray Elgard was a hell of a receiver. I still remember sitting near him at a Green and White game in S’toon a number of years ago while he and a fellow player that shall not be named, sat and smoked while they watched the game. Kids: Smoking is bad do not smoke!!

- As mentioned above, my step-daughter, Emily. is having her Grade 8 Farewell tonight and she looks beautiful.

- My favourite Muppet was Animal

- I saw Trooper once and I remember them telling the story of how honoured they were Sesame Street used Raise a Little Hell for a song, changing it to Where’s the Letter L

- There will be a golfing episode as part of the next season of Corner Gas.

- Beer will be different at Mosaic stadium this year. Not the type, but you will see what I mean tomorrow. Maybe :- ) I got a tip from an unconfirmed source.

- I love Jam Jam cookies, and Edith Klemp a lady I deliver to in Pense, makes killer ones, maybe the best ever with no disrespect to my mom.

- Henri “Don’t call me Julia” Childs looks like he will be fun to watch this year. Don’t count Mr. Bracey out just yet though.

That’s Enough

Today’ Lyrics

“So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time”

One more sleep till game day!

Wow I can't believe you forgot Nazareth-Hair of the Dog when you mentioned bagpipes in rock. And of course The Animals-Sky Pilot also had bagpipes. And while it aint rock another great song with bagpipes is Steve Earle-Copperhead Road. I actually don't mind bagpipes. I'm so hyped for tomorrow night. And you must have dug into the kids music for the lyrics today because I have no clue.

You are correct sir there are other's I just did not think about it all that much. I think Steve transcends (SP) a genre he just has great music.

Phil

I will tell her, the ceremony went really well.

For bagpipes in music, there is Korn as well. However, you have to have a certain tolerance level as they are nu-metal. Quite a bit harder then Steve Earle and Nazareth :-)

Sorry Joe, I hadn't seen your response to my question in the other post. I'll take a look.

I had also heard that there would be a different beer format for this season... :-))
