What’s In A Number

For those that have listened to me over the last year and a bit (I know I have been on longer then that but please hold), you will have gotten a sense that I am a Kerry Joseph fan. Well, I still am. I think he is a very talented QB when healthy, and given the right tools, offensive plan, receivers, time to throw the ball etc. Do I hope he is the starter this year? Sure, I would like to see what he can do with 100 % of the tools above. BUT… I am also a big Marcus Crandell fan as well. I guess I have not been as vocal about that in the past but I truly am. I think Marcus is the better passer of the two, but both men are veterans, intelligent, capable of picking up the offence and running (or passing) with it. Joe do you have a point? is what you’re asking, right? (I bet you ask that a lot reading my little dog and pony blog here.) The answer is yes I do. The point is I do not care who the starting quarterback for the Riders is in 07. I don’t really care which number is on the back of the jersey throwing the rock. Many have stated that this year we will see the best man for the job out there on the field, and if that man falters the other will step in. To that I say, great. Coach Austin really is a smart enough man and wants to win badly enough that a change should never be a problem. Is any of this rocket science? Nope, just my opinion - take it for what it’s worth. I just hope this year the most popular quarterback on the team is not the second string or, maybe a better way of putting it, is the guy not currently on the field. If Gainer can win us some games I say put the boy in! That would be a big helmet wouldn’t it? Vote on the poll on the side as to who you want to be the starter.

We had Jim Hopson on The Coaches’ Show tonight, and I’m sure Rod will have a great breakdown on his blog tomorrow. Make sure you check it out. I asked Jim about the field and he said it is holding together nicely, it drains wonderfully, and it is a little hotter with the black pellets then they anticipated. He also mentioned it will take a little time to settle, but should be great. Friday will be a great test for it.

I found out today that The TD club will again be coming to you live from the practice field. So if you get a chance to, come by and say hello to Bob and me. We are always on 2.5 hours before kick-off and look forward to meeting some of you. Oh, and you should listen to the show as well. Roundtable has a few new sponsors this year as well with prizes that we will be giving away so make sure you tune in after the game for that.

The results of the first TRR poll were

Will The Riders Be Over Or Under 500 In 07?
Over 87% (20 votes)
Under 13% (3 votes)
Total voters for this poll: 23

In case you had not heard/seen this yet, I thought you should.

Today’s Lyrics

“In the back of my cadillac
A wicked lady, sittin by my side, sayin where are we?”

Please note: As soon as The Coaches’ Show is available, I will have it right here to listen to.

I too like both KJ and MC.

They both have their strengths, that to me compliment one another.

I hoping if one struggles with the opositions "D" or is off their game that Coach Austin will not hesitate to swap out the QB's.

If anything the Riders should be the envy of the league when it comes to our QB situtation. The only exception maybe BC. However I feel that DD is one major hit and concussion away from being told he better hang it up.

And that's all I've got to say about that... :-))

I'm a big Marcus fan. I know if he gets the starters job that he will do well. But if it ends up being Joseph as the starter I won't be upset at all. As long as the O moves the ball and puts up some points I'll be happy. And scores early in games to take the pressure off of the young guys in the secondary. And I hope that if the starter is struggling that a change is made early enough to matter. And that video was cool. A nice simple song, but damn McCartney's voice aint what it used to be. And the lyrics were easy again. New York Groove by Ace Frehley. That song was actually played at my buddies wedding when the wedding party was walking out of the church. It was hard not to dance all the way up the aisle.

Hey Joe;

So what do you think of the possible change of the NexTel Cup Series to the Sprint Cup Series?
